Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici from The Bachelor decided it was time to surrender their pup, Moose, a rescue they brought in at Christmas in December 2024. It came after the pup attacked Sean and left the ABC star needing a visit to the ER. As they raise small kids, the dog had to go.

Not A Funny Post

Sean Lowe and his wife are popular with ABC fans because he often shares lighthearted and joking-around posts on social media. However, his story about the encounter with his dog, Moose wasn’t a laugh a minute. His reel arrived on Stories first, but on March 17, he posted another reel on his Instagram profile page and thanked fans for their support.

Sean, 42, who first appeared on Season 8 of The Bachelorette became The Bachelor in Season 17 and proposed to Catherine Giiudici. They raise three kids under ten, so when Moose attacked him on the weekend, it was time to rehome the rescue. The reel explained how their dog suddenly turned vicious and attacked him while he prepared a barbecue.

The Kids Were Not Hurt

NBC News reported that, fortunately, Catherine Giudici and the kids were not around at the time. However, he was lucky that his friends were able to help him fend off the pup. After suddenly attacking his hands and feet, he needed “stitches” because of “bleeding.”

That wasn’t the end of the story, as when they asked his “parents” to take the dog away from their home, the pup attacked again. The boxer was so vicious that the ABC star was afraid that the dog wanted to “kill” him or “the kids.” So, they called the cops and “surrendered” Moose.

The Problem With Re-homed Boxer Dogs

According to Boxer Forums, Boxer dogs can be patient and loyal to children. However, the website stipulates that is the case only if they are “well-socialized.” One photo that Sean Lowe shared on February 11 showed that Moose seemed to be very excitable.

On Reddit, Bachelor Nation fans felt sad about the story because it might make others hesitant to adopt a rescue. However, they also expressed their joy that the children weren’t injured. Some of them suggested that the couple get a smaller puppy for the kids.

In the comments section, other reality TV fans felt that Moose had been traumatized before he ended up at a shelter. As the attack arrived after a smoke alarm went off, perhaps the sound was associated in Moose’s mind with something bad.

Some fans related how sometimes the history of an animal isn’t always fully explained when dogs are surrendered. Notably, it wasn’t easy for Sean Lowe to give up his dog, as he “loved” it very much.
