Sister Wives: Kody Brown Says He Wants To Be ‘Friends’ With Meri After Their Split

Sister Wives: Kody Says He Wants To Be 'Friends' With Meri After Their Split, He Doesn't 'Need One More Enemy.'Kody Brown, well-known for his appearances on Sister Wives, is still grappling with the impact of his three divorces from Janelle, Christine, and Meri Brown.

On the September 29 reality show episode, Kody and his only remaining wife, Robyn, encountered his former wives during a family member’s wedding. Kody described the experience as “awkward” and “weird,” sparking deep reflection for the 55-year-old.

“Overall, the whole wedding was just sad for me,” Kody admitted. “We used to go places as a family and now it’s like those who were my partners are now almost like enemies. It’s awkward. I don’t know what the solution is.” The event, which wasn’t filmed for the show, highlighted the complexities of his family relationships.

Kody Brown’s Reflection On His Marriage To His Wives

Kody also reflected on his marriage to Christine, now 52, confessing that he initially doubted her seriousness when she began moving his belongings out of her house. “I’m looking back now and feeling how stupid that was of me,” he shared.

Kody believes that if he and Christine had ended things on friendlier terms, it could have eased the tension within the family. “For Christine and I, I think that if we would have just broken up as friends, it would have been better for the whole family,” he continued to tell the cameras. “Like, make it so we can get back together another time instead of polarizing everybody.”

His reflections didn’t stop there. Kody acknowledged his separation from Meri, 53, revealing that he feels they have officially ended their relationship. This breakup was confirmed in January 2023 in a joint social media post.

Kody admitted, “I think if I were single and Meri was single, would I date her? No, I wouldn’t. She is upset that I’ve dragged this out so long. I don’t blame her,” he continued. “I’m looking in this triple breakup like Christine’s, then Janelle and now Meri. I don’t want Meri to be in this place where she’s taking this toll, this direction that both Christine and Janelle have taken. Oh, yeah, ‘I need one more enemy right now.'”

Kody Brown’s Desire To Maintain Friendship With Meri And Robyn Brown’s Struggles

In an effort to avoid further animosity, Kody expressed a desire to maintain a friendship with Meri. “That’s why I’m trying to be in this place with Meri where it’s like, ‘Hey, can we just be friends and move on?'” he said.

Discussing his relationship with Janelle, 55, Kody admitted that their communication has become limited. “To be really honest with you, I don’t understand why we can’t reconcile,” he revealed. He recalled a conversation where Janelle told him, “I’m just enjoying my time away from you.”

Robyn, Kody’s current wife, is also feeling the emotional weight of the situation. In a separate interview, Robyn opened up about her struggles. “I’m going through a lot of mourning, loss and grieving of the relationships and dealing with some of my own just situational depression from it,” she said.

She added that she misses the family members who are no longer in their lives, and noted that it has been rare to see Kody smile lately because of all the family turmoil.

Despite the fractured relationships with his ex-wives and the distance from many of his children, Kody holds out hope for reconciliation. “What I’m thinking is with time going on and just a phone call once in a while that these relationships will come back,” he added. “And then, I’ll be, like, in full fellowship with my children again,” Kody said optimistically.
