Meri Brown continues to open up about the breakdown of her 32-year marriage to Kody Brown. On the Sunday, November 17, episode of Sister Wives, Meri prepared to leave Flagstaff, Arizona, to focus on managing her bed and breakfast at Lizzie’s Heritage Inn in Utah.
This significant transition brought about moments of reflection on the highs and lows of her long-term relationship with Kody.
Sister Wives Spoilers – Sharing Candid Thoughts on Kody’s Requests To Work on Their Relationship
While painting the interior of her inn, Meri shared some candid thoughts with her best friend, Jenn Sullivan, and Jenn’s husband. She revealed that Kody had made numerous requests of her over the years in an effort to work on their relationship.
“He’s like, ‘Can you do this? And then, we can work on a relationship,’” Meri, 53, recalled.
During a solo confessional, she elaborated further: “He asked me for some specific things. He had this list of things that he wanted me to do in order for us to work on our marriage. And once I completed that list, he was done [with me]. I recognize now that he was like, there’s nothing else I can ask. There’s no other thing that I can use as an excuse of why I’m not working on this marriage with her because I had done everything that he asked of me.”
Now officially single after their polygamous marriage was dissolved through their church, Meri admitted she wasn’t ready to date. Her friend Jenn, however, teased her about it, humorously noting that her single status wasn’t just recent. “Or, 10 years,” Jenn quipped, referring to the largely platonic nature of Meri and Kody’s relationship in the last decade, especially after Meri’s infamous catfishing experience.
Sister Wives Spoilers – Moving Toward Independence
Later in the episode, Meri visited Kody and his remaining wife, Robyn, to share her decision to accelerate her move to Utah by a few weeks. This prompted questions from Kody about her reasons for the change in plans.
Meri jokingly asked Kody for help with her move, calling it her “severance package,” as she hadn’t received any alimony following their legal divorce in 2014.
When asked how she felt about the move, Meri confidently stated, “I think I’m just ready to be in control of my limbo land and this is me being in control of that.”
Despite Kody’s lack of romantic interest in Meri, he admitted feeling a sense of sadness about her departure, calling it “the end of an era.” He expressed mixed emotions, describing the move as a fresh start for Meri while also admitting that his “nostalgic heart” was slightly broken.
Robyn, 45, echoed his sentiments in her own confessional. “It’s weird to me because I can see Kody’s sad and he has gotten emotional several times about it, but this is what he chose,” she said.
Sister Wives Spoilers -A Bittersweet Farewell
A teaser for next week’s episode revealed just how conflicted Kody was. In one moment, he seemed lighthearted, even referring to Meri as his “favorite ex-wife” while helping her pack. But that levity gave way to deeper emotions, with Kody breaking down in tears as he reflected on the loss.
“We had something special,” he said, his voice heavy with emotion.
The poignant farewell underscored the complexity of their relationship and the challenges of moving forward.
