Sister Wives will recall that on the show when Kody fled Utah with his family, he was terrified that he could be arrested and worried for his family’s welfare if that happened. Way back then, Kody gathered all the family in several vehicles and made their way to Vegas because, in Utah, Kody could have been arrested for having more than one wife. Vegas wasn’t the best choice as a place to raise children, but it did provide a safe haven for a polygamous husband and his four wives.

The whole move was extremely stressful for the family. The older kids only had a few days’ notice before they had to pack up their lives and leave their friends and their home. The little ones were not told, Kody feared they would tell their friends, teachers, or neighbors. Kody’s wives said back then that they didn’t even notify the children’s teachers that they were moving. The story spin was so great that the family was shown desperately packing up the vans and as they left, sirens are heard racing towards the family and Kody said, “This is one of the most emotionally packed experiences this family has ever had.” Talk about drama!

Sister Wives Updates – Little Children Have Big Ears

Sister Wives fans know how Kody spun his story about fleeing Utah, but Kody’s daughter, Gwendlyn Brown has a completely different recollection, according to what she told to a Sister Wives fan. She says that she recalls the cops going over to the house with warnings, they told Kody that he would have to leave or get arrested. Kody left because of the warning, he didn’t have to sneak away in the middle of the night or have everyone’s nerves on edge for the whole TLC season when they were leaving Utah. Essentially, Kody was scared off and Gwen confirmed that. They left Utah because they had no choice, but they weren’t running for their lives.

The crazy thing is with this whole story, being a polygamist in Utah is no longer punishable by prison. Now that Kody is minus most of his sister wives, perhaps the patriarch of the Brown family might U-turn it back to Utah.
