Survivor Jeff Probst Reveals Huge Casting Decision For Seasons 46 to 48

As one of the biggest and most popular reality television shows that keeps plugging along, Survivor is getting ready to launch season 46.

The series is now announcing some major casting changes for its next three seasons. While returning contestants has been an ongoing theme for the show, in the last six seasons fans have not seen returning players get another shot at being “Sole Survivor”.

Now, the show’s host, Jeff Probst confirms to Entertainment Weekly that the reality series will not be bringing back “all-stars” or returning contestants.

As he notes, the Survivor casting team hasn’t “even” thought about bringing back past Survivor players to return to the show.

New “Survivor” Contestants Are “Fascinating”

Probst shares with Entertainment Weekly that he’s “happy” with the casting team, and he can’t relay “how fun” it is when he’s in a casting session and a new individual pops up on the screen.

The Survivor team is finding such “interesting” people, and those individuals are now being placed on the show, inspiring people to apply.

According to Probst, this trend of “new” contestants will continue for at least season 48, as it’s a “constant flow” of “fascinating” individuals. He questions why the show would want returning players, and notes that “time is on” their side.

He adds that Survivor is already meeting people who are going to play months from now (for seasons 47 and 48) and the show is “jazzed” about it. He confirms there will be no returning players for seasons 46, 47, or 48.

“Survivor” – No End In Sight

While returning players allow fans to see their favs compete on the show once again, there’s also a nice feeling to see a fresh new batch of contestants each new season.

This news doesn’t necessarily mean the show is abandoning the idea of returning players or “All-Star” shows; it just means that it won’t be happening for the next three seasons.

The good news is that Jeff Probst doesn’t anticipate Survivor coming to an end anytime soon, and there’s always a chance that an all-star cast could return for the show’s big 50th anniversary season.

The newest Survivor season, big number 46 is set to premiere Wednesday, February 28th, airing for 90 minutes, as was done in season 45. Don’t miss a moment of the castaway reality show that airs on CBS and continue to visit CTS regularly for more reality TV news and updates.
