Survivor will soon celebrate its 50th season. And fans have speculated about host Jeff Probst’s rumored exit after that milestone.
But now the Survivor host has tackled the topic directly. And as revealed below, Probst announced the one condition that he set for staying on the reality competition show after the milestone 50th season.
Survivor Spoilers – Jeff Probst Survives 45 Seasons!
For those who remember watching the very first season of Survivor, prepare to feel old. Because host Jeff Probst just reflected on the upcoming 50th season of the beloved competition show. And Probst revealed via EW his main requirement for continuing as the host of Survivor.
Currently in its 45th season, the CBS reality competition show has survived regardless of the move to streaming platforms. And host Jeff Probst has survived with it. However, now 62, he did at first consider exiting amid the first 20 seasons.
But Probst found several reasons for staying. First, he received a promotion to the show runner. And second, after suffering through a low salary in the first seasons, Jeff boosted his bank account. However, Probst also has shared what Survivor means to him.

And Jeff confessed, “It’s impossible to describe what Survivor represents to me. Impossible. It goes beyond creative expression or professional recognition. It’s much deeper.”
But the Survivor host shared that his reason for staying falls “right in line with the ideas I try to impress on our players. It’s about pushing myself further than I think I can go, about trying to stay in the moment and adapt to my surroundings.”
And Probst also remains because he sees himself as a positive member of the Survivor tribe. But the host also wants to stay “open to new ideas and new people. The same opportunities Survivor offers the players, it offers me. I love Survivor and I still need Survivor.”
Survivor Spoilers – Jeff Probst Gets Credit He Doesn’t Deserve?!
And then he responded to fans asking if season 50 will mark his last. “I still love Survivor very much. I think that’s pretty clear. Survivor 50 is definitely our next big target in terms of a milestone,” added Probst.
“But you’ve got to remember: We’ve got to get there. So you have to do 45 and 46, then you have to do 47 and 48, then you have to do 49, then you get to 50. So it is one at a time.”
And then Probst shared exactly what he needs in order to stay. “I have no intention of wanting to stop so long as the show continues to be fun and the people applying continue to be interesting.” But he also wants to keep “our team together.”
And Jeff called that “sort of the whole enchilada. Because I get way more credit than I deserve,” he added. “This show is made by a giant group, and we’re all in it together. And I would not want to do the show with another team. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to start over with new people. So I’m in it as long as everybody else on the team is in it.”
