Survivor Spoilers – Who Stars In Season 46?

Season 46 of Survivor reportedly filmed amid June 2023. And the new season will last for 26 days. That length marks a change from the 39-day seasons during the first 40 seasons.

As for the cast, CBS has not yet revealed the players. But diversity likely will play a key role in casting. And that goal stems from the discussions that took place in June 2019. Because of the Black Lives Matter movement and concern about anti-racist practices, a group of Black Survivor alumni discussed their challenges.

Referred to as the Soul Survivors Organization, the group included contestants from seasons 1 to 40. And they created a petition that sought to get Survivor to follow through with anti-racist guidelines. For instance, the initiatives included casting BIPOC for at least 30% of each cast, hiring more BIPOC as part of the crew, and offering more support to the cast.

Reflecting on the petition, Survivor host Jeff Probst stated, “The entire culture is in a beautiful upheaval. And our job is to respond to it to make sure that Survivor continues to reflect our culture and our behavior and how we’re interacting with each other. Everything that’s happening is going to inform the future of Survivor.”

But CBS also took action. And the network revealed plans to create new guidelines for reality TV show to improve diversity. As a result, CBS established a requirement that at least 50% of every show’s cast must be contestants who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). And the network also allocated a minimum of 25% of its annual unscripted development budget to projects created or co-created by BIPOC producers.
