The Voice Spoilers – Blake Shelton’s ‘Prankster’ Charms!
With help from The Voice, Blake Shelton has passed his teasing tradition to Niall Horan. And Horan take over the role of prankster after winning season 23, which marked his first time as a coach on The Voice. But Niall seems to have learned enough from Blake’s witty and warm tradition to continue it.
As a result, The Voice warm-up comedian Bill Sindelar shared, “What’s interesting about season 24 is Blake was always the jokester prankster. And it was great that Niall had a season with Blake. Because I feel like Niall has kind of taken over that persona for our show,” Sindelar told EW.
And the comedian recalled how Shelton became a fan fave on The Voice for teasing the other coaches. For instance, Blake and his fellow country musician, Kelly Clarkson, famously sparred amid the show. And now Sindelar revealed that Niall has enjoyed “giving a lot of slack to all the other coaches.”

The Voice Spoilers – Niall Horan Becomes ‘New Blake’
And Niall even “has kind of jabbed at [the other coaches] like Blake would,” added Sindelar. “So I would say that Niall is the new Blake in the sense that he’s kind of filled in that role of being the funny prankster.” And in upcoming episodes, The Voice will reveal Horan’s playful tactics at work.
For instance, Niall teases the other coaches that he plans to win again. And he can’t resist a photo-bomb opportunity to ruin Gwen Stefani’s selfies. “I mean, he definitely gives it to Gwen,” admitted The Voice’s warm-up comedian. “And they joke about Gwen being his mom and how he says stuff to her,” Sindelar added.
However, Horan teased that when he first encountered Gwen, he didn’t feel impressed. And he joked, “clearly not great.” But Stefani responded with her own mockery, teasing that she needed to think up a punishment for the younger coach. And Niall turned serious in sharing that he would love to team up with Shelton after learning so much from the most experienced coach on The Voice.
“When someone like Blake leaves, who’s been there forever, you’re like, ‘Okay, he’s got that persona. How do we match that or do we not? Is it a different show?’ You’ve got Reba [McEntire], who’s the queen of niceness,” pointed out Sindelar.
But then “here comes Niall picking up all the comedy from Blake,” added the comedian. And he noted, “I’m glad that he was able to take that role over from working with Blake.” The Voice began its 24th season on Monday, Sept. 25.
