Todd Chrisley Seeks Freedom From Prison: What About Wife Julie?!

Todd Chrisley recently complained that his celebrity status causes unfair treatment in prison. And the Chrisley Knows Best alum asked to swap life behind bars for confinement in his mansion. As a result, Todd’s request has received an internal investigation.

Todd Chrisley – Wants Freedom From Prison

Because life in prison doesn’t suit him, Todd Chrisley has applied to switch from behind bars to home confinement. And his attorney Jay Surgent told People that the case has become “internally investigated.” However, Surgent admitted that the Chrisley Knows Best alum previously applied for home confinement and received a rejection.

Surgent explained that Todd “was making an application under the CARES Act to be released” to his mansion. However, “his application, as well as a number of other applications — but particularly his — was rejected. He submitted it,” added the attorney. “But the person that was administrating it and was in charge of processing it, decided that she didn’t want to do that. She decided not to do it,” claimed Chrisley’s attorney. 

“And then, the time period for the application expired,” added Surgent. As a result, the Chrisley Knows Best alum’s attorney claims Todd did not get “due consideration with reference to being admitted to home confinement or taken advantage of some type of a probationary program. It’s very, very unfortunate,” he added. 

But what about Todd’s wife Julie? Based on the attention given to the Chrisley patriarch getting freed into home confinement, it appears that Todd gets priority in the family. And that seemingly means he feels fine about letting Julie stay in prison while he fights to stay in his cozy mansion.

Todd Chrisley – Lives ‘In Squalor,’ Says Attorney

The Chrisley Knows Best alum did receive a lengthy sentence that calls for him to stay behind bars. But his attorney insisted “that matter is now being investigated internally. And we feel as though there was no reason why it should have not been processed, even in light of his prison term,” he added.

Chrisley, 54, filed his application for home confinement rather than staying at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida based on the heat. And Surgent claimed that both Todd and his wife Julie, 50, live “in squalor in 100-degree temperatures. There’s no air conditioning, there’s no nothing” in their prisons, he added. Julie currently resides in Federal Correctional Institution and Federal Prison Camp Marianna in Lexington, Kentucky.

However, the Chrisley Knows Best alums also have sought to appeal their case. But in the interim, they face a combined 19 years in prison for tax fraud. And Surgent shared what might occur next in the appeal process.

Todd Chrisley -Suffers In ‘Ridiculous Situation’

“11th Circuit Court of Appeals can reverse the district court, or they could remand the case back for hearings that should have been held that were not held during the course of this trial,” explained the Chrisley Knows Best alums’ attorney. “We argued very vigorously that their constitutional rights have been violated,” he added. And the lawyer also claimed that the two did not receive “a fair hearing. It’s all in black and white actually,” he added. 

“And their living conditions, both of them, he in Pensacola, she in Lexington, Kentucky, it’s an absolute ridiculous situation. Not that we’re saying that they deserve special treatment because they’re celebrities. They don’t,” noted Surgent. “We shouldn’t be treating our prisoners the way we’re treating our prisoners at this point in time.”
