Tom Schwartz Goes From Vanderpump Rules To ‘Stars On Mars’

Vanderpump Rules star Tom Schwartz credits an unusual new reality TV show, “Stars On Mars,” for helping him recover from the drama of season 10. And the Vanderpump Rules star admitted that filming the reunion episodes took its toll. As a result, Schwartz decided to go from filming one reality TV show to shooting another.

Tom Schwartz – Explains Why He Agreed To ‘Stars On Mars’

Vanderpump Rules season 10 ended in a three-part reunion filled with tears, screaming, and a seemingly endless blame game. And for Tom Schwartz, filming the reunion also involved answering questions about what he knew regarding his buddy Tom Sandoval’s infamous affair with Raquel Leviss. As a result, some of his fans felt surprised to learn that Schwartz went from that reunion to filming “Stars On Mars” in Australia.  However, Tom explained that he viewed the new reality TV show as a break from all the drama, according to Too Fab.

Fox’s new reality TV series features a competition among celebrities in a setting intended to resemble Mars. And for Schwartz, it offered an “escape” after the stressful experience involved in this season of Vanderpump Rules. But Tom admitted that he knew he needed to “be wary of escapism.” 

However, because of his friend Sandoval’s affair, Schwartz’s life had become “chaotic.” And when producers pitched the concept to him, Tom decided, “Yeah, let’s do it.” The chaos included Schwartz’s friendship with Sandoval as well as the two buddies’ restaurants. As a result, while Schwartz couldn’t actually travel to Mars, he decided that Australia seemed far enough to give him a welcome break.

Tom Schwartz – Feels ‘Grateful’ For New Reality TV Show

Filming in Australia felt like a “welcome retreat,” admitted Schwartz. And he added, “I’ve been looking to get out of my little bubble that I’ve been in. We all have problems,” acknowledged the Vanderpump Rules star. “And this past year-and-a-half to two years, I happen to have had a lot of them all at once. You know, when it rains it pours. So it was a nice little sabbatical.”

Tom has faced business problems in his ventures with Sandoval, a divorce from Vanderpump Rules co-star Katie Maloney, and his father’s health issues. And a change in scenery as well as new co-stars made “Stars On Mars” a relief. “I was able to step outside of my little bubble and be like, ‘You know what? I’m so grateful.’ I’m so lucky for all the opportunities I’ve been given and everything I’ve got to experience thus far in life,” revealed Schwartz.

And Schwartz also felt better after filming the reality competition show. “I felt like I was a little lighter on my feet when I got back here,” he revealed. “My worries of the day all of a sudden didn’t seem so worrisome.” And Tom added, “I just felt like myself again.”

Filming for season 11 of Vanderpump Rules will start soon. And Schwartz looks ahead to “this next chapter in my life. After my experience going to Australia, getting away for a while on a little sabbatical, I feel better equipped to handle whatever life throws at me now,” he added. And Tom feels “more confident and optimistic” about his future.
