Tom Schwartz still pays the price for helping his pal Tom Sandoval hide his affair with Ariana Madix in the scandal known as “Scandoval.” And Schwartz told People that he feels determined to get Ariana to forgive him.
But Madix, 38, just finished “absolutely crushing it” on Dancing with the Stars, pointed out Schwartz. And after her focus on that, Ariana has eased into her relationships with the Vanderpump Rules cast for the new season.
But Schwartz confessed that his former friendship with Madix didn’t recover from the cheating scandal. And it feels “still kind of strained.”

However, Tom shared that he “always” aims to behave in a “cordial” way. “And I’m always excited to see her,” he added. “She’ll give me a nod and say hi. But I think our friendship [is] going to take some work. I got a five-year plan. Five years from now I want to be BFFs again,” revealed Schwartz.
And Tom took time to gush about his former friend. For instance, he praised Ariana for “crushing life” with her “glow up. Not that she wasn’t thriving before, but her star is shining bright right now.”
However, Vanderpump Rules viewers received a front row seat to the end of Madix and Schwartz’s years-long friendship. And as Ariana discussed how her boyfriend Tom Sandoval secretly cheated on her for months with their costar Raquel Leviss, Schwartz reflected on his role in the cover-up.

But Schwartz noted that he did not try to excuse Sandoval for cheating on Ariana after nine years together. And in an apology, Schwartz discussed how he helped his buddy hide the truth from Madix.
“I just wanted to look you in the eyes and say I’m sorry for this whole thing,” Schwartz informed Ariana. “I’m not looking for sympathy here,” he added. “But I’m being painted as this co-conspirator. And it’s f—ing devastating to me.”
However, Madix made the decision to end her friendship with Schwartz. “But I will not have mutual friends with him,” asserted the Vanderpump Rules star. And she made her decision clear. “So, I’m not your friend anymore,” added Ariana.
But on an appearance on the talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ariana explained her views on the role that Schwartz played. And she shared her belief that he betrayed her. “I don’t think it was just covering,” declared Madix. “I think it was actively participating in my downfall.”
