Vanderpump Rules turned Tom Sandoval into one of reality TV’s most infamous villains. And viewers seemed quick to play amateur psychologist, giving Sandoval labels such as narcissist.
But now Tom has challenged those who want to psychoanalyze him by undergoing testing from Dr. Drew Pinsky. Keep reading to learn if the expert views Sandoval as a narcissist.
Vanderpump Rules Spoilers – Tom Sandoval A Narcissist?
Tom Sandoval faced slams from both his Vanderpump Rules co-stars and viewers when news broke that he cheated on his girlfriend Ariana Madix with her supposed best friend Raquel Leviss. And Sandoval apparently has noted how many fans on social media have called him a narcissist. Because on his Everybody Loves Tom podcast, the 41-year-old reality TV star talked with Dr. Drew Pinsky about that topic, noted Us.
And so Pinsky gave Sandoval a test to see if he meets the traits for a narcissist. “You took the narcissism test. You are not measurably narcissistic. It is a test for narcissistic traits. It is not a way of diagnosing a disorder,” he clarified. “But it is a way of showing traits.”
And Pinsky revealed that Tom “actually scored very low.” However, Sandoval did score higher in the vanity category. And he explained that measures “something you’re interested in because of your appearance. It is not good or bad, it is just a trait.”

However, then Sandoval threw some shade at his Vanderpump Rules co-stars. And he said that he didn’t expect to qualify as a narcissist because he thinks some of the cast exhibit those traits. “I knew because I had been around people with narcissistic traits. They are on our show,” said Tom. “So I know what it is like. I just know that I am not those people.”
However, Pinsky did observe that Sandoval seems “more on the codependent side and less on the narcissistic side. Codependency is a construct, it is not a diagnosis. It is a situation where it is hard to assert yourself. You are not great at boundaries and when you see people in pain, you have to make it stop.”
And Pinsky noted, “You feel like you have to make it stop because you feel like an empathic person. But underneath it is your own pain being mobilized that you have to make stop. You have to distinguish your pain from other people’s pain.”
Vanderpump Rules Spoilers – Tom Sandoval Sets Up Dating Rules
But Sandoval has claimed that he felt stunned at the backlash over cheating on Ariana with Raquel after spending nine years with Madix. “This whole situation, obviously I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life,” he said. As a result of the scandal, Tom has changed his dating habits.
“I have had to be very, very vocal about that to people that I am dating. I am currently dating and I have to warn them that sometimes I am very honest and open and a very loving person. So I like to be friends and connect,” explained Sandoval. “But I have to warn people to keep things from getting too attached too quickly.”
