Josh Duggar, the former 19 Kids and Counting star from TLC was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on May 25. Well, he got less time behind bars than a lot of TLC fans hoped for. However, for now, they breathe a sigh of relief that his seven children won’t live with him. But, will he ever again have a role as a dad to his children? After all, sooner or later, he will be released. Read on to find out.
Josh Duggar – Sentencing Takes Away Dad Role
Ahead of the sentencing, Anna and her mother-in-law, Michelle both wrote to the judge asking for some leniency. Well, that didn’t happen, so their wish for his reuniting with his family came to nothing. In fact, he probably will go to Seagoville prison in Texas, about a six-hour drive from where Annam lives. There, his time to spend with any visitors will be strictly regulated and only allows for limited contact.
Josh Duggar has seven kids, and basically, for the next 10 to 12 years, they are unlikely to play ball or take walks with their dad. Mackynzie Renée was born in 2009 and is already a teen. Meanwhile, their oldest son, Michael James is now about to turn 11 years old. Then, the youngest arrived less than a year ago. For Michael and Mackynzie at least, they will likely be adults by the time their dad gets released from prison. Even the second son, Marcus Anthony will be over 18 by then.
Can Josh Duggar Spend Time With His Kids After Prison?
The four youngest kids, Mason Garrett, Meredith Grace, Madyson Lily, and Maryella might get to spend some quality time with their dad once his prison sentence ends. However, even that is unclear. According to Katie Joy of Without A Crystal Ball, “Once Josh is released he will [be] on Supervised Probation for 20 years.”
Additionally, Josh Duggar “will not be allowed to be around children unsupervised.” On an aside, he is “banned from having a computer & cannot view Adult Pornography.” Well, Counting On fans wonder if that means it will be extended to him leaving prison and living with Anna. After all, Anna is hardly the best person to supervise her husband, fans opine.
Josh Duggar – Probation Officer In The Home?
Some fans wondered how on earth Josh Duggar could be kept away from his kids if he goes back to Anna after his prison sentence. After all, it seems unlikely that a probation officer can move in as a permanent houseguest.
It’s a long way off before fans need to worry about Josh and his children living normal lives. For most folks, the tragedy about the entire thing is that seven young people will suffer because of the behavior of a single man.
