Zooey Deschanel & Michael Bolton ‘Dating Game’ Reboot Co-Hosts – ABC ’60s Game Show Returns

In recent years, ABC has revived so many game show classics, and now, a Dating Game reboot has been added to the list. The celebrity Dating Game has promised to add more spice to the iconic show from the 60s.

Remember The Original Dating Game?

The original Dating Game was shown on ABC from 1965-1973. It was later aired for an additional year -1974. Since then, there have been 3 other revivals: from 1978- 1980; 1986 1989; 1996-1999.

What Was The Original Dating Game About?

The game was to match-make its contestants with high-value personalities. On how the game is played, the bachelorette asks questions from 3 bachelors. Based on the answers they give, she chooses the bachelor she wants to date. In time, these roles were swapped- a man had the
opportunity to choose one of three women using the same parameters.

The 2021 celebrity dating game won’t be the first time that celebrities have appeared on the show. Sometimes, the celebrities would play the bachelor or bachelorette and ask questions for themselves, a friend, family, or a colleague.

What To Expect From The Celebrity Dating Game Show

The Celebrity Dating Game will have the ‘classic’ feel of the original show, but also with fun and some twists. Firstly, the contestants will all be celebrities. Now, these celebrities are single and searching. They are ready to fall in love.

Every episode will feature two celebrities. These celebrities will choose their match between 3 bachelors or bachelorettes. But that’s not all! The identity of the celebrity will be kept a secret to their dates, and Michael Bolton will provide clues to help contestants understand it all.

With support from the co-hosts, this is set to become more interesting. Michael Bolton is an executive producer of The Celebrity Dating Game with Charles Watcher, Wendi Wan, and Christina Kline.

The Hosts Of The Show

Zooey is well known for her roles in New Girl, (500)Days of Summer, yes man, ELF, and many more. Known as a singer-songwriter, she’s part of the duo- she and Him with M. Ward. Bolton, who’s an award-winning songwriter, was known as the frontman for the band blackjack. He was quite popular in the 70s, 80s and was known for his hard rock/heavy metal music

This game show will consist of 8 episodes that will be filmed in both Los Angeles, and California. Presently, no premiere date is announced yet, but it is coming soon to ABC.

ABC never stopped to lean heavily into the game show space, including the new entries – “The chase”, “Supermarket sweep”, “The Hustler”, “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” and “Don’t”. In addition to Staples white include “Celebrity Family Feud”, “Match Game”, “The $100,000 Pyramid”, “Holey Money”, “Card Sharks”, “Press your luck”, ” Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, and “To Tell the truth.
