3 Fascinating Things That Happen Immediately After Kate Middleton Becomes Queen Consort

Koenig went on to tell Insider that there will be immediate changes after this event takes place. For instance, Kate will see her workload increase but as the cherry on top, she actually inherits Buckingham Palace!

For instance, her counterpart Prince Philip is a patron, president, or member of over 750 organizations while right now Kate is a patron of just 21 organizations.

Here are 3 other sensational changes that will happen when Kate becomes Queen.

#1 Her Curtsying Days Are Over

According to royal protocol, members of the royal family should curtsy or bow their heads to members higher in rank to them.

This means that right now Kate curtsies to her in-laws the Queen and Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and the Duchess of Cornwall.

When she is made Queen consort, only William will outrank her so likely she never has to curtsy again. This also means that the rest of the lower-ranking royal family will have to curtsy to her.

#2 Kate Middleton Will Be Crowned At Her Husband’s Coronation ceremony

Kate will be crowned alongside her husband William. This did not happen for Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Philip.

Why? Because royal tradition dictates that the female consorts be crowned at the same time, but not male consorts.

According to the royal family’s official website, “Unless decided otherwise, a Queen consort is crowned with the King, in a similar but simpler ceremony,”

“If the new Sovereign is a Queen, her consort is not crowned or anointed at the coronation ceremony. After the present Queen was crowned The Duke of Edinburgh was the first, after the archbishops and bishops, to pay homage to her.”

#3 She Has A Change In Residence

Once Kate is crowned, she automatically gets an upgrade in accommodations. After William is crowned, the couple will move from Kensington Palace to Buckingham Palace.

Their new digs have 775 rooms for playing hide and seek in and it has been the official residence of Britain’s monarchs since 1837.

The palace is both their home and workplace. If William dies before Kate, the palace becomes the administrative headquarters for the next in line to be a monarch, who just happens to be their son Prince George.
