#3 King Juan Carlos Of Spain’s Abdication
The modern-day but now former King Juan Carlos of Spain, 82, abdicated his role in 2014. As you might imagine, there were a few skeletons in the closet that was behind his voluntarily giving up of all those royal perks, including allegations of financial improprieties and extramarital affairs.
Just this year Juan Carlos’ son, King Felipe, renounced an inheritance from his disgraced father due to alleged connections to a major financial imbroglio. It was also stated that Juan Carlos would no longer receive his public allowance from the state.
#4 The Duchess Of Cambridge Appeared Unrobed
In Provence in 2012 papps took snaps of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge without her top on. The pics were published and understandably Kate was livid. A French court ruled that the pictures were an invasion of privacy and she was awarded £92,000 in damages in 2017.
A statement from Kensington Palace read in part, “This incident was a serious breach of privacy, and their Royal Highnesses felt it essential to pursue all legal remedies. They wished to make the point strongly that this kind of unjustified intrusion should not happen.”
