For a lot of people, living behind palace gates at either Buckingham Palace or Kensington Palace might seem like a dream come true. For others, it’s like a real princess story come to life or part of some people’s wildest fantasies.
But for Meghan Markle, it’s more like a life sentence, according to Archbishop Welby. As a matter of fact, the archbishop went on the record to make some shocking statements of what the Duchess of Sussex’s life really is like and how she might be wishing that she was still living the good life back in Los Angeles. Here’s what you need to know.
Archbishop Warns Meghan Markle Serving Life Sentence
According to the Mail Online, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby made some interesting comments about Meghan Markle’s royal life and some of the things that the public doesn’t know about what goes on behind closed doors. The Archbishop is particularly close to both Prince Harry and Meghan, as he officiated their wedding back in 2018 and also baptized their son Archie Harrison last summer.
The Archbishop told the publication, “They (the royal family) are born into it and one of the things, with the great privilege of meeting some of them, that I’m most aware of is their sheer sense of duty and commitment, which means they know this is a life sentence. Even if they decided to withdraw from public life and never take any money and disappear, they would still be pursued because they’d be the ex-you know Duke of Rock or whatever.”

Meghan Markle News: All About Her Royal Life
If that weren’t enough, the Archbishop also called Meghan’s life a life-sentenced and also said that some of the treatment that she has received in the last two years has most definitely been ‘racist.’
He added, “I would obviously be immensely concerned about all racist behavior and, particularly when it’s someone you know, you just think this is so totally undeserved. These sorts of portrayals of her you sometimes see. She’s a person of profound humanity, and deep concern for people, seeking to carry out her role with every ounce of her being, and I think she’s a remarkable person.”
So far Meghan Markle herself has not made any comments about the Archbishop’s remarks.
