British Royal News says that Meghan Markle is once again opening up about some of the less than memorable experiences that she had while she and Prince Harry were still working members of the royal family. This time around Meghan recalled a story about how her son Archie was almost caught in a fire in his nursery during their trip to Africa. Here’s what she has to say.
British Royal News: Meghan Markle Details Heartbreaking Story About Her Son Archie And A Fire That Broke Out In His Nursery During South Africa Trip
In her Archetype podcast, Meghan spoke to her friend Serena Williams about a fire that broke out where their son Archie was staying back in 2019. She said that soon after they arrived in Africa, Harry and Meghan left their son with a trusted nanny while they went off to a royal engagement right away.
The Duchess of Sussex recalled, “He was going to get ready to go down for his nap. We immediately went to an official engagement in this township called Nyanga, and there was this moment where I’m standing on a tree stump and I’m giving this speech to women and girls, and we finish the engagement, we get in the car and they say, ‘There’s been a fire in the baby’s room.’ What?”
“She was supposed to put Archie down for his nap, and she just said, ‘You know what? Let me just go get a snack downstairs.’ And she was from Zimbabwe, and we loved that she would always tie him on her, her back with a mud cloth, and her instinct was like, ‘Let me just bring him with me before I put him down.’ In that amount of time that she went downstairs, the heater in the nursery caught on fire. There was no smoke detector. Someone happened to just smell smoke down the hallway went in, fire extinguished,” Meghan said. She added, “He was supposed to be sleeping in there.”
British Royal News – Meghan Details A Terrifying Story
Meghan Markle then said that everyone was shaken over the incident, but they had to go on to their next engagement, despite what had just happened.
“I was like, Can you just tell people what happened? And so much, I think, optically. The focus ends up being on how it looks instead of how it feels,” she said. “And part of the humanizing and the breaking through of these labels and these archetypes and these boxes that we’re put into is having some understanding on the human moments behind the scenes that people might not have any awareness of and to give each other a break. Because we did — we had to leave our baby… And even though we were being moved to another place afterwards, we still had to leave him and go do another official engagement.”

I think this highlights why Meghan isn’t cut out to be a political leader or an ambassador like for example Kate Middleton. Does anyone think with 3 children Kate hasn’t had some worrying situations like this whilst carrying out her royal duties? However Kate is not a drama queen and where there is no actual harm done Kate obviously wouldn’t make a big deal of it. How does Meghan actually navigate the real world like this, everything feels like no matter how full her and Harry’s glasses are they feel they are always nearly empty or cracked and leaking. We can all allow ourselves a moment to gather ourselves after a frightening incident and set ourselves back on course, when we know a stressful situation is under control. The Queen and her family pulled their country through a war, with their country being bombed!! I cannot imagine Meghan having the courage, strength and fortitude to manage such a feat after this tale of her so called horrifying experience. I would rather have level headed Kate for setting an example of how to deal with emergencies than I would Meghan judging by this story. This I’m so hard done by attitude is getting really old.
Kate was born in England and was given a lot more training then Megan. She was with William a lot longer the Harry was with Megan. They are Happy and are still giving to their Charity’s . The British People don’t like Megan because they consider her a Black Women instead of her Father being White. I have two good Friends that live in England so they know.
Sorry but a couple of friends don’t make you an authority on the UK. I actually have a biracial family living in the UK. My mother (scrapping by on her pension) would give her biracial neighbors as much milk and food etc as she could spare. Privileged bullsh*tters like Meghan and Harry don’t understand, have no concept of ordinary life and are not helping ordinary people, many like my family who are definitely not racist. Have you ever considered it is not Meghans race or color that people don’t like but the fact that she is making things more toxic for people living in mixed race communities. She for example already has people like yourself just jumping to the conclusion it must be the color of her skin and not her bad attitude thats the the cause of this problem. I will tell you truthfully I was thrilled when Meghan joined the royals. I thought at last here comes someone some of my family and friends can truly identify with. Its a crying shame she couldn’t stand the pressure and tough it out like Kate did, “waity Katie” she was called and a social climbing woman, but she stuck it out and is succeeding. Yes, it might be a bit tougher for Meghan being a woman of color but had she been able to stick it out I truly believe she could have done amazing things and been an inspiration to my family and friends. I haven’t given up hope though, I really hope one day a good fit will come along and join the royal family. One thing I do agree with in your comments is next time the situation shouldn’t be allowed to be rushed, so hopefully next time this situation can be a success and not an epic disaster.
