Prince Charles Tackles Pollution In China With Major CollaborationThey say when you want to kill a beast, aim for its head or heart, and Charles’ go green initiative is seeing the 73-year-old work with companies based in the world’s highest emitter of greenhouse gases.

The new initiative, involving the Prince of Wales, is meant to introduce a green economy to China. Charles is certainly not joking when it comes to his grand scheme to make green the color of the future.

Prince Charles’ Green Initiative Soars To New Heights In China

With the support of the Communist country’s Vice Premier Hu Chunhua, Charles was able to set up a China Council of his Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) on Sunday, August 21.

The initiative was launched in Jiangxi, the southeast cradle popularly known as the Cradle of the Chinese Revolution. During the launch, Prince Charles issued a keynote speech via video, alongside the Vice Premier.

The SMI, originally launched by Charles at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos in 2020, works to bring together international figures from the public and private sectors as well as philanthropists to find suitable ways to decarbonise the global economy, thereby making the economy a more greener one and cutting off the choking effects of climate change.

China, as many of us know, is by far the biggest polluter, generating a third of global carbon emissions, well ahead of the second largest polluter, the United States.

However, Clarence House diplomatically stressed that while China is the biggest polluter, the country is also the biggest investor in renewable energy. China’s usage of wind and solar energy is the most efficient and largest in the world Prince Charles Says Climate Change “Cannot Be Solved Without China”

In a video message to mark the launch of his China Council, Charles said: “Climate change and biodiversity loss, as two of the world’s most dire and pressing threats, simply cannot be solved without China.

“At Cop26 in Glasgow, and through China’s presidency of Cop15, the world has made some progress towards a net zero, biodiversity-positive and sustainable future.

“But governments cannot achieve these goals alone. Industry must play a central role in our efforts to accelerate the green transition. Mobilising finance will be crucial.”

He went on to explain that China is home to the world’s biggest banks and insurers. “Chinese companies are also world leaders in green technologies from electric vehicles to renewable energy.

“So your collective action through the SMI China Council will play a vital role in the global transition to a greener economy.”

In his concluding words, he admitted that humanity and the entire “natural world” will have to join in the fight against climate change, if the dream of a greener and cleaner world is to be achieved.
