On Remembrance Sunday, members of the royal family and senior politicians led the nation in honoring their fellow country men and women who lost their lives during war.
After weeks of anticipating that the Queen will be attending church service on November 14, marking her first public appearance following her medical team’s advice to rest, it was announced last Sunday morning that the Queen will be skipping service as she broke her back.
The Palace further shared that the Queen was heavily disappointed that she couldn’t make the annual ceremony. Previously, it was announced that it was Her Majesty’s firm intention to attend church service on Remembrance Sunday.
Serviceman Raises Questions Regarding The Queen’s Health
The event, which took place on Whitehall, saw the assembly of many veterans and military, as well as onlookers.
A serviceman present during the ceremony at Cenotaph voiced his concerns over the seriousness of the Queen’s condition, as he believes that “it must be very serious” if the Queen is unable to attend.
Royal Navy Petty Officer Ben Shread, of the Combat Camera team, noted: “It would be nice if the boss was here. She’s the head of the armed services. I don’t know if she has ever missed the Remembrance parade before.

“So, if there is a reason she is not here it must be a very serious one. We all wish her well.”
In the days leading up to the ceremony, many royal sources said that the Queen was looking forward to attending, as it means as much to her as her annual Christmas message.
In an interview with The Sun Online, Dickie Arbiter said: “I believe being at the Cenotaph is as important to her as her Christmas message.
“Being Commander-in-Chief is not something she would wish to miss – being Commander-in-Chief of past and present forces. It’s important to her that she is there.”
However, it is understood that the back sprain that caused her to miss the event is unrelated to her doctors’ advice to rest. She will be remaining at Windsor Castle as she recovers from her injury.
