British royal family news reveals that Princess Kate Middleton is now recuperating in the hospital following an “abdominal surgery” last week. She will be there for up to two weeks, at the same time that King Charles is scheduled for prostate surgery.

Elser’s not wrong. Even Prince William is on record saying that it’s Kate the people want to see during royal visits, not him.

According to Elser, Kate has “razzle dazzle, its fairydust, its seductiveness” and without “the remaining working members of The Firm are all just so painfully drab. Dull. Grey. They don’t have ‘It’ factor so much as an abundance of ‘meh’ about them.”

Princess Anne is known as the hardest working royal but she’s never been a cover girl like Kate.

Driving home her point, Elser notes wryly that Brits have: “the sum total of upcoming glamour now entirely down to Anne and her collection of hardy drip-dry worsted suits.”

Kate will be absent from the BAFTAs, on St Patrick’s Day, and the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

They will soldier on no doubt, but Elser is correct when she says “Kate represents more to the royal family than just being a nice decorative thingamabob. If you think about it really, she is the heart of things. Now that the late Queen has died, it’s the Princess of Wales who is The Mum.”

Just don’t dare tell Camilla that.
