Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles won’t have to relive what was an otherwise very embarrassing moment during their affair again. There are new reports that say the highly-acclaimed Netflix series The Crown won’t be showing any scenes that had to do with Camillagate or rather, ‘Tampongate’ when Prince Charles’ infamous leaked call with his then-mistress Camilla Parker Bowles made its way to the headlines. Here’s what you need to know.
Camilla Parker Bowles Spared From Further Embarrassment – Netflix’s The Crown Omits Humiliating Scenes
According to Entertainment Weekly, The Crown actor Josh O’Connor, who plays the next generation Prince Charles, said that the lurid conversation won’t be on the show, much to the relief of Prince Charles, Camilla, and of course, the rest of the royal family as it was perhaps one of the most humiliating leaked phone calls in modern royal times.
One of the reasons why the phone call won’t be featured in the upcoming season is because the actor himself said that’s something he doesn’t feel comfortable doing or saying in front of the cameras.
O’Connor said in an interview, “When they offered me the role, one of my first questions was — I say questions, I think it was pretty much a statement — ‘We are not doing the tampon phone call.’”

O’Connor goes on to explain that he didn’t want to feel embarrassed knowing that his closest family members would end up watching the series, too. He added, “And this was my one chance for my parents to see something with no shame and there’s no way I was going to scuttle that by talking about tampons on Netflix.”
Of course, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles will also be feeling relieved knowing that The Crown won’t be showing a scene in their affair that they would otherwise forget, or at least hope that the public would forget already. Charles and Camilla ended up tying the knot in 2005, seven years after the death of Charles’ first wife, Princess Diana.
