He also explored the royal family’s reaction to his performance, especially Harry and Meghan’s shared “tension”.
British Musician On Witnessing Harry And Meghan’s Uneasiness Before They Left The Royal Family
Before the pair stepped down as working members of the Royal Family, Craig David recalled seeing them tense during a performance for the Royal Family.
Singing his hit new single “Who Are You” at the party, he said that the royals were enjoying it but he felt something different between Harry and Meghan.
Before the couple publicly announced their decision to step down and move to North America, they attended a Commonwealth celebration hosted at Westminster Cathedral.
As he performed some of his biggest hits recorded throughout his 20-year career for the Royal Family, Craig reflected on the “tension between the royal couple” during the memorable event.
He recalled: “[In] 2019 I performed at Westminster Cathedral … a lot of tension going on at that period of time; Harry and Meghan were there. I went to sing for the Commonwealth celebrations, I remember walking up.
“The Queen, she was watching this whole procession … I went up and sang this acoustic performance.
“The moment she looked up and that moment of acknowledgement … the full vibes. Everyone in the family,” he shared.
Feel The Music
But the multi-award winner recalled noticing a more overwhelming reaction from the now parents of two.
He continued: “I always talk about how music is healing and a form of therapy. I could feel it cut through.
“There was a part where Harry looked up, Meghan looked up, I felt it really landed in their hearts.
“It felt like that was the one moment where I was able to witness that.”
