Did His Mother’s Tragic Death Turn Prince Harry Into A Control Freak?

Talking royal heads have insinuated that Prince Harry’s desire to control his own destiny has been getting in his way. We all have a desire to be in control but when the desire rules us, resulting in rash actions, that’s when the problems arise. Case in point: Megxit.

Much has been made of the abrupt, brash nature in which Harry divorced himself from his family, his country and his royalty. Could his impetuous behavior have roots that go back as far as his mother’s tragic passing?
Has Prince Harry learned to want to be in control at all times?

According to a royal watcher Duncan Larcombe, Harry’s need to “control the narrative,” as was alleged by his own brother Prince William, could have emerged following the death of Princess Diana.

He told Ok! Magazine that Harry was not pleased with how the royal family reacted to the 2008 verdict in the inquest of the death of Diana. He claims he had a meeting with Harry afterward and, “Harry was absolutely furious that his father’s advisors had put out a statement. That was a sign to me that he has inbuilt, unresolved anger about having no control of what’s said.”

The 2008 inquest into Diana’s was a high-profile investigation regarding the accident that resulted in her death. It was an extensive affair, with nearly 300 witnesses. According to The Guardian, taxpayers paid nearly £7 million for the inquest. The jury reported after 22 hours of deliberation that Diana and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed were unlawfully killed.

Their deaths were a result of the paparazzi following them and the driving of chauffeur Henri Paul. The verdict of unlawful killing was akin to manslaughter, the most grievous verdict available to the jury.

Prince William And Prince Harry Agreed With The Jury’s Deliberations

At the time of the verdict, Prince William and Prince Harry told the media, “We agree with their verdicts and are both hugely grateful.” They went on to thank the jury, “for the forbearance they have shown in accepting such significant disruption to their lives over the past six months.”

In the interview, Larcom added that Harry was preoccupied with, “not being normal,” and felt frustrated about comparisons to his brother, Prince William. William is set to become the future king while Harry is relegated to being the spare. Is this alleged resentment also behind Megxit, which supposedly gave him the opportunity to forge his own destiny?

We may never know. What is evident is that in the time he has been free and normal he has failed to secure gainful employment and has had to resort to housing himself and his family in other people’s homes. So much for forging a destiny he can be proud of.
