There’s new speculation that Meghan Markle might have had a water birth. The new royal mom welcomed her son, Archie Harrison, during the early hours of Monday morning with her husband Prince Harry by her side. And while there was some speculation that Meghan was looking to have a home birth, new reports say that the Duchess actually gave birth to a hospital near her home at Frogmore Cottage.
Speculation Is Swirling About Where The Duchess Gave Birth
This has led to even more speculation that the Duchess might have had a water birth at the hospital, too. Here’s what you need to know.
According to Women’s Health Mag, sources reveal that Meghan really wanted to have a water birth in a birthing pool, which would have made her the first royal to every do so. Luckily, there are 275 maternity hospitals in the U.K. that offer birthing pools.

Water births are becoming more and more common in Great Britain as many women want to have unmedicated childbirths. As a matter of fact, about 10 percent of mothers in the U.K. opted to have a water birth back in 2018, while over 20 percent used water or a birthing pool for pain relief during labor.
Water Births Are A Growing Trend, But Did Meghan Markle Partake
Now, if Meghan Markle did have a water birth, she is clearly part of a growing trend here. Right now Kensington Palace has not made any comments about the birth, nor have they confirmed or denied the water birth reports.
However, there was a lot of speculation before the birth that Meghan was looking to have the most natural and organic experience that she can get. Seeing how she was pulling all the string in terms of how she wanted to present Baby Archie to the world, it wouldn’t surprise us at all if she did have a water birth.

That’s not the only thing Meghan did differently than her royal counterparts. Unlike her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Sussex refused to pose for photographs in front of St. Mary’s Hospital only a few hours after giving birth. Instead, she and Prince Harry waited a full 48 hours to present their child to the world. And instead of having a pack of photographers shouting at them, they selected only a few media outlets for their photo call.

How and where Meghan chose to have her child is her and Harry’s business only. It is inconceivable that there is so much media speculation about such a private event!
