Could a hissy fit by Prince Charles be behind Carole and Michael Middleton’s apparent distancing form their mutual grandchildren?
It has been widely reported that Prince Charles was miffed that the Middleton’s were spending so much time with the grandkids that he thought they were using some of his allotment up. As if there is ever too much love to go around for grandkids?
At any rate, wind of this opinion got back to the Middleton’s (not hard seeing as how the news of Charles’ churlishness was everywhere).

In particular, a 2016 Daily News article stated that Charles complained to a source that he, “Almost never sees Prince George.”
After this a friend of Kate Middleton’s parents said that her mother Carole was upset to hear that Charles felt this way. The friend went on to say that the Middleton’s may be distancing themselves from the kids as a result.
Were Carole Middleton’s feeling hurt by Charles alleged remarks about her?
The friend reported that Carole only wanted to be a good mom and grandma, and never intended to upset anyone.
“Perhaps their low profile is their way of keeping a respectful distance,” the source concluded. In light of this remark it is curious that the Middleton’s were not present at a number of significant royal events that year. Most notably they were not in attendance for Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday celebration.

At least one royal watcher, Katie Nicholl, attributes these changes to Charles’ reported outburst. Nonetheless, while Kate’s parents were absent from some royal events, they still were able to see Kate and William when they chose.

In addition to Charles’ alleged statement, it has been reported that palace courtiers had an unflattering assessment of Carole whom they termed “possessive” about her family.
In conclusion a source close to Charles has gone on record saying that he feels, “very much that the Middleton’s get more than their fair share of time with George and Charlotte.”
