Everything To Know About King Charles’ Historic Australian TourBritish royal family news reveals that today marks a historic moment for the UK as King Charles and Queen Camilla arrive in Australia for their first joint tour of a Commonwealth nation since the monarch’s coronation.

It’s been reported that King Charles has chosen to stop his cancer treatment while in the country, a concerning development for many. Here’s what to know as this historic tour kicks off.

Royal Family News: Charles In Australia

This visit marks the 17th time that the king has been to the Land Down Under. He is now 75-years-old and his schedule will be less extensive than in times past.

Charles and Camila plan to spend the weekend in Sydney before heading to Canberra. It should be noted that only individuals in NSW and the ACT may attend public events.

On Monday, October 21 the king has his first scheduled public engagement at 12:35pm at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. The couple will visit the For Our Country Memorial and at 1pm the public can see the royal couple at Parliament House.

Royal Family News: Charles and Camilla Tour Australia

On Tuesday, October 22 the king and queen open a visit to at the Sydney Opera House at 4:20pm. At 4:50pm King Charles and Camilla will be on the Man O’War Steps. They will be on the historic jetty near the Opera House to review the Royal Australian Navy fleet and defense force flyover.

Royal Family News: Where Will Charles Be in Australia?

King Charles and Queen Camilla will also have a private visit to the National Botanic Gardens on Black Mountain in Canberra.

According to the Daily Mail, “Charles has a meeting with CSIRO scientists researching the impact of bushfires and the resilience of the environment” and “Camilla will meet family and domestic violence advocates and representatives from the organisation GIVIT, which helps distribute donations across a range of charities.”

King Charles and Camilla plan to meet Australians of the Year Georgina Long and Richard Scolyer who are expected to “discuss their world-leading research on cancer treatments.”

Before the tour is over, King Charles will meet Aboriginal leaders to discuss culture and community and Camilla “will visit a Sydney library and meet students participating in a series of writing workshops.”

On Wednesday, October 26 King Charles flies to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and later returns to the UK.
