Florida Judge Dismisses Meghan Markle’s Motion To Avoid Testimony In Samantha Markle Case

It looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are going to have to state their case but instead of doing it in front of a Netflix camera, they will have to make their statements in front of a courtroom.

There’s a new report that says a Florida judge has dismissed Meghan’s motion to avoid testimony in Samantha Markle’s lawsuit against her half sister.

Samantha claims that the Duchess of Sussex had made defamatory statements against her during her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey and that false allegations were made in the 2020 biography, Finding Freedom. Here’s what you need to know.

According to Page Six, Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell is clearly not fooling around as she has reportedly dismissed Meghan’s motion to avoid any and all testimonies. This means that both she and Prince Harry will be deposed in Samantha Markle’s $75,000 lawsuit against them.

The Judge stated that Meghan “does not show that unusual circumstances justify the requested stay, or that prejudice or an undue burden will result if the court does not impose a stay.”

Judge Honewell added, “[Meghan] does not satisfy the high standard required to stay discovery pending the resolution of a dispositive motion,” while also adding that, “to date, the duchess has not agreed to schedule one single deposition.”

If that weren’t enough, Samantha has also requested that her father Thomas Markle, her estranged daughter Ashleigh Hale and former royal aside Jason Knauf all be deposed, too. Samantha claims that because of everything that Meghan has said about their non-relationship in the past, she’s suffered humiliation, shame and hatred on a worldwide scale.”

Samantha also claims that her half-sister has fabricated a “rags to royalty” story about her background and that she hasn’t told the truth about her life. Meghan, for her part, has claimed that she’s only seen Samantha a handful of times during her life and that they were never really close.
