British royal family news is rife with rumors that Queen Camilla has made a statement about King Charles’ potential abdication.
Charles and Camilla were crowned last May but a lot has changed since then. Most notably it was announced last week that he and Princess Kate have health woes that require hospitalization.
On top of these personal crises, Charles’ royal peer, Denmark’s popular Queen Margrethe, abdicated on January 14.
Since then the chorus of calls for Charles to follow in her footsteps is growing. Earlier this month Queen Margrethe stepped down to allow her eldest son Crown Prince Frederik to become monarch.
Royal Family News: King Charles Will Abdicate?
King Charles’ wife Queen Camilla recently spoke about King Charles’ health after it was announced he will undergo prostate surgery.
She was carrying out an official royal event on Thursday when she was asked about her husband’s health status. It’s been reported that King Charles is awaiting treatment for an enlarged prostate and will have the procedure done next week.
Royal News: Abdication News
Camilla was visiting the Aberdeen Art Gallery when the Lord Provost queried her about the monarch’s health. She replied that the king is “fine, thank you very much. Looking forward to getting back to work.”
Some fans are questioning the phrasing of her response. On the one hand some royalists believe that her statement that the king is “Looking forward to getting back to work” says it all, that there are no plans to abdicate.
Some fans are reading into her words, as she specifically did not mention the “A” word. Of course this is all open to interpretation and any talk of abdication is pure speculation.
However, the news that King Charles will have a major surgery is worrying, especially given that Kate Middleton is currently recovering from “abdominal surgery” and will be in the hospital for 10-14 days.
