Let’s just say that this fell into her lap during the best time possible. There’s a new report that details exactly how Camilla Parker-Bowles managed to go from Queen Consort to Queen of England without really trying too hard, either.

It almost seemed like it was destined for her to be known as the Queen of England, thanks to her husband, King Charles, who wasn’t fond of the ‘Queen Consort’ title at all. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Here’s How Camilla Parker-Bowles Became Queen of England And Not Queen Consort

According to The Times, while the plan might have been for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort, it was King Charles who had pulled some strings soon after the death of Queen Elizabeth to make sure that his wife would have her termed as the ‘Queen’ and as soon as possible, too.

And while anyone else would have been very involved in the matter, Queen Camilla seemed not to care very much about it. Sources say that she was just as relaxed being named the Queen Consort as she is being named the Queen of England.

One royal source put it this way to the publication, “There was never a fixed timeline for when or if this would happen and there were certainly differing views among courtiers within the household. Above all the Queen (Camilla) was relaxed either way and felt it would happen organically.”

The tipster also added, “In the past, previous female consorts have all been Queen Consorts but were only ever known as Queen.

To keep the word consort on all official statements might set a precedent that could impact future generations. Much like everything else with the queen there was a huge amount of thinking it over—on the one hand this, on the other hand that. But when it happened it landed very naturally.”

So far Queen Camilla herself has made no comments about the matter.
