The narrator of the documentary, The Queen: In Her Own Words, has gone on record to explain how he thinks that in 2020 Queen Elizabeth, “beat Harry and Meghan in a war of words and proved herself to be the Queen of social media.”
Narrator Andrew Scarborough pulled no punches in his comments, making it clear that Her Majesty is as vital and relevant as ever.
Royal expert Wesley Kerr seconded this point of view saying of Megxit, “It was a situation like a kettle which had been coming up to boil and it boiled over.”
Queen Elizabeth Should Always Be Allowed To Have The Last Word?
Even though The Queen knew that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were displeased with their royal duties and roles, she reportedly had no clue that they would act as rashly as they did, announcing to the world their intention to hightail it out of the UK and away from his family. Apparently they gave her no forewarning, something that she surely deserved as both his grandmother and as the queen.
According to royal watcher Ingrid Seward, “The statement came as a complete surprise to the Queen. She knew that they weren’t happy, she knew that they were in talks with her advisors but she had no idea they were going to put out their own statement.”
In some ways it was the shot heard around the world when on that January day they lobbed a bombshell announcement onto their Instagram.
Harry And Meghan Showed No Respect For The Queen As A Family Member Nor As The Leader Of The Monarchy
“They issued that sudden statement saying that they would be stepping back from their role as senior royals and that they had laid out what their terms would be,” said Scarborough. “#Megxit trended all over the world and dragged the Queen into a Twitterstorm.”
He added that the queen showed what she was made of however as just a short time later, “Although the Queen had been caught off guard, a brief and concise tweet posted just hours later revealed that discussions were at an early stage. In just 34 friendly words, the Queen had taken back control of the situation.”

Many wish she had also spanked impudent Harry who was acting like a spoiled child lashing out at his loved ones because he didn’t get his way, a tantrum made all the more cringeworthy by the very public nature of his outburst. His behavior reminds one of the screaming kids in the grocery store who’s been denied a candy bar.
As Charles Crawford put it, “She basically put out this very short business-like statement which said this is where things stand.”
Of course, there were many other statements to follow, and Harry and Meghan are now in Hollywood.
