Here’s Why Meghan Markle Doesn’t Wear Gloves

Princess Anne is often seen with them, Queen Elizabeth swears by them and even Kate Middleton is pictured with them on occasion. But apparently, Meghan Markle isn’t a huge fan of them. There’s a new report that states while the Duchess of Sussex often hold her gloves but doesn’t actually wear them, leaving many stylists puzzled over her unusual choice of styling.

According to Town and Country, Meghan Markle – who is currently expecting her first child with Prince Harry – has made it a habit of carrying her gloves rather than wear them in public. As a matter of fact, there are several photos that show Meghan holding her gloves in her right hand along with a purse or a clutch.

Many royal fashion experts believe that one of the reasons why Meghan Markle likes to hold her gloves is because she like to elevate her look of the day, while also projecting a “royal image.” In other words, this is no style accident.

Journalist and social media influencer Elizabeth Holmes told Town and Country in an interview, “Each part of her ensemble is very thought out and purposeful, so when she’s carrying gloves it is meant to send a message. Gloves signal to me a certain aesthetic. It’s very ladylike to have a pair of gloves, it makes an outfit look a bit more formal,” Holmes said in a phone interview, explaining that carrying gloves is a trend often seen in editorial fashion spreads or on the runway.”
