Kate Middleton Admits To Feeling Naïve As a New Parent

Kate Middleton admits that she once felt very naïve as a first time parent. As a matter of fact, the Duchess of Cambridge has opened up about some of her personal struggles during a mental health conference that highlights the work that The Royal Foundation has been doing to help those that are battling with their emotional health.

According to the Daily Mail, Kate Middleton spoke to a packed house about Britain’s social problems during the mental health conference. The event was held at Mercer’s Hall in East London.

Even though Kate, along with Prince William, have a staff full of nannies and household help at home, they often try to be as hands on as possible with their children, although it’s not always easy. Kate admits that she made a few missteps during her first year as a mother.

She said: ‘I was very naive myself as a parent, of really just how important particularly the early years are for children’s futures. And how critical it is, everyone looking after children at a critical time, teachers, parents, and everyone who’s caring for them, how important it is that we get it right.”

The 37-year-old royal and future Queen of England has been working hard to push mental health issues and research to the forefront and has also been focusing on children’s mental health as well.

Kate, along with her husband Prince William are trying to eradicate that stigma that usually comes whenever people talk about their mental health issues, depression, and so on. So far the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been doing an excellent job of being a voice for those who are often not heard.
