Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle entered the picture, the British press targeted both Prince William and Kate Middleton and called them ‘work shy royals.’

In fact, year after year both the Prince and Princess of Wales worked the least amount of royal engagements and public appearances compared to the other senior royals like Prince Charles at the time or even Prince Andrew or Princess Anne.

And while all of the negative headlines about their work-shy ways probably did bother them, both Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t do much about it. It wasn’t until Harry and Meghan began getting more attention for their work that they began to step it up in the work department.

Well, now that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been gone for three years, William and Kate have had no choice but to take on the extra work that Harry and Meghan have left behind. But for the Princess of Wales, she doesn’t mind being seen doing more work.

That’s because she doesn’t want the public to think that all she does during the summer months is sit at home and relax. One source close to the situation even said, “She’s taking on more engagements than ever before. She feels like it’s more important than ever for the monarchy that she’s seen out and about and that people don’t just associate her with relaxing all summer.”
