Kate Middleton Isn’t Afraid To Share Her Parenting Difficulties With Others

Kate MiddletonBritish Royal family news reveals parenting is not an easy job, if it was, it’d be a paid position, but as no amount of money can even begin to compensate the work parents do, it’s still unpaid. Not unless someone smart reopens negotiations in the future.

Kate Middleton has proven that royal or not, parenting has its difficulties, whether if you live in a castle or a cottage or by the sea, and even if you’ve got a staff with the best people or if you’re doing it alone.

The mom-of-three is keen on lending an ear to people’s parenting difficulties and she is “unashamed” to share hers as well.

Kate Middleton Supports Baby Basics U.K.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, was very open about her difficulties as a parent, according to the CEO of Baby Basics U.K., when the royal visited the Sheffield charity last August.

Kate Middleton, who shares Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3, with husband Prince William, visited the launch of the new initiative she ardently campaigned for, getting 19 major U K. retailers and brands to donate more than 10,000 new items to more than 40 baby banks in the U.K.

“I think what struck me the most about the Duchess was her genuine interest,” explained Cat Ross, CEO of

Baby Basics U.K., in an interview with Hello! magazine.

“She genuinely wanted to hear of our experiences, she wanted to hear directly from families that had accessed our services, what their experiences were like and was really unashamed to share her difficulties that she faced in parenting and really been able to relate to families about what it’s like raising children with three children herself.”

Baby Banks are a valuable nationwide service, run by volunteers, who work hard to provide aid to some of the most vulnerable families in the U.K. by providing essentials such as nappies, clothing and bedding.

Most of the people who are supported by the charity are refferred to them by services including health visitors, midwives and social workers.

The banks have been crucial for many struggling parents, especially during the start of the coronavirus crisis. Their supplies were wearing down as a result of the increase in demand and their policy not to accept second-hand donations due to health and safety concerns.

The Duchess Of Cambridge’s Impact On Baby Banks During The Coronavirus

Alarmed at the depleting rations as a result of the shortage of supply, Kate – who has previously visited Baby Basics in Norfolk at the start of the crisis – set out to try to convince big brands and companies to support the cause.

In all, she was able to get 19 brands to donate more than 10,000 items to Baby Basics, Little Village and AberNecessities.

When Kate visited, Baby Basics U.K. had 37 centres across the U.K., and it has now expanded to 51, while 27 brands in all donate to the charity on a regular basis.

CEO Cat Ross also praised the valuable impact of Kate’s initiative as “amazing”, adding that donations from brands and high street retailers have “absolutely snowballed since the Duchess got involved.”

“The Duchess has helped to raise the profile of baby banks and Baby Basics UK, we’ve seen more and more brands come on board and their support to us has been absolutely phenomenal,’ she told the publication. ‘It’s really exciting to see how they’ve embraced what we do and they’re really passionate about supporting us and supporting families.”

The CEO further explained how she keeps in touch with the Duchess about the charity’s progress since launching the initiative last year.

“We regularly communicate with the Royal Foundation and the Duchess about what’s happening with Baby Basics and where we’re opening new centres,’ she explained. ‘It’s just to keep her informed about the impact that continues to happen from the launch of the baby banks initiative that she started with those brands and just how it’s developed for Baby Basics since then.”
