Kate Middleton Spotted Hunting, Meghan Markle Skips Royal Tradition

Who knew Kate Middleton was an excellent markswoman? A day after Christmas, the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly joined other male members of the royal family for a day of shooting pheasants and other birds. The Royals were at Sandringham Estate to celebrate the holiday with the Queen and it has been their annual tradition to go hunting on Boxing Day.

Kate has been previously photographed shooting in her early 20s, but the mom-of-three has not been seen joining the men in recent years. Apparently, with the birth of her third child this year, the Duchess felt it was ready to take up hunting again.

According to royal commentator Rebecca English of the Daily Mail, Kate Middleton loves the sport so much that she even bought her own 20-bore shotgun. Sources reported that Kate enjoys hunting with Prince William even in their private country home in Anmer Hall. The royal couple loves the game so much that they’ve begun to introduce it to their children, especially to Prince George.

“[Kate Middleton] frequently goes out shooting when she is staying at Anmer Hall and has become a good shot,” a royal insider said. “She is very much into the hunting, shooting, and fishing country lifestyle.”

Meanwhile, Kate’s sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, was a no-show on the Queen’s hunting grounds. She and Prince Harry reportedly left Sandringham right after having lunch with the royal family at the Wood Farm. Meghan’s pregnancy could be the reason for her absence, although the 37-year-old former actress is also known to be a fierce animal rights advocate.

It has previously been reported that Meghan banned Prince Harry to go on hunting trips, but royal insiders insist that the new Duchess of Sussex is slowly learning to adjust to age-old royal traditions.

“Meghan has realized that the Royals have been doing this for centuries and aren’t going to change their ways,” a source said. “She has accepted this but doesn’t like watching it. She enjoyed the lunch and got on well with Kate, but I’m not sure how she would feel about Kate taking part.”
