King Charles’ First Christmas As King Will Be “Less Formal”, Insider Says

This Christmas is going to be a bittersweet one for members of the Royal Family and for many royalists around the world. Why? It’ll be the first one without the beloved family matriarch, who died early September – a little over a year after her husband passed away at age 99.

However, it’s been said that the royal Christmas tradition will be adhered to this year. The difference will be that Charles does not want them to strictly stick to the traditions of Christmases gone long ago.

Oh, just a reminder: there’s still no update on the Strictly Come Dancing episode that’s set to film at Buckingham Palace this year. It was supposed to wrap up the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year, but maybe they’ve chosen to cancel?

Royal Family To Continue Their Christmas Get-together At Sandringham

The Queen has always cherished the time she gets to spend with members of her family and friends. Christmas at Sandringham was something close sources say the Queen looked forward to with joy.

King Charles' First Christmas As King Will Be “Less Formal”, Insider Says

Even though she can’t run around with the kids anymore, she always enjoyed having them around for the festive season. Last year, she axed her Christmas lunch; a beautiful affair that featured dozens of her close family members and friends, due to the rise in Covid cases at the time.

This year, Charles wants to have the first and proper family get-together at Sandringham in three years.

Usually the annual Christmas event is one of those very rare occasions when several members of the Royal Family step out together to greet the crowd. This usually happens after church service on Christmas Morn.

But BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Daily Mail that Charles is planning this Christmas to be “less formal” and “less buttoned up” than previous years.

This means that the royal protocol will be less strict this coming holidays, and, according to Bond, no one has to watch Charles record his first annual Christmas broadcast.

As Bond put it, “I’m sure he’ll record a few days before and it’s bound to have some reflection on their loss.”

The Queen’s annual Christmas broadcast has always been an anticipated thing, but I guess we can give Charles a chance to get the Christmas spirit flowing this year with his first broadcast.
