King Charles Slammed For Being ‘Tone Deaf’ With Outdated Coronation

While there’s no doubt that tradition is very important, there are a lot of people out there who think that the monarchy could have done without all of the pomp and circumstance. In fact, there’s a new report that says many critics out there are slamming King Charles for his “tone deaf” and rather outdated coronation.

With the UK economy being as weak as it is and the cost of living in Britain at an all time high, it probably wasn’t very necessary for the royals to spend $250 million on a coronation ceremony and accompanying concert. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

While there’s no doubt that a lot of people couldn’t help but raise their eyebrow over the cost of King Charles’ coronation, some critics believe that King Charles himself should have known that the amount would have been controversial.

Robert Slater of Entertainment Daily even went as far as to say that the ceremony was an “insult” to normal people out there.

He wrote in his opinion column, “It certainly looked spectacular on screen, what with all that gold and all those diamonds and rubies. But when you take a step back and think about how much it all cost, it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. It has been reported that the coronation weekend cost up to £100m – which is staggering… and totally insulting.”

What’s Next For King Charles And The Royal Family?

It seems like a lot of people certainly agree with Slater’s sentiments over the coronation, as a new poll suggests that even Americans thought that the coronation was both boring and a waste of time.

But Charles doesn’t seem to think that same way. Even though he had a hard time trying to get British pop acts to perform at his coronation concert, he spent a pretty penny getting both Lionel Richie and Katy Perry to travel across the pond to belt out their biggest hits.

Of course, Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the criticism although at this point, it’s doubtful that anything will be said. As the old royal motto says, it’s best to just keep calm and carry on, even if that means you have to ignore all of the criticism while you’re at it, too.
