Ngozi Fulani, one of the attendees at the recent Buckingham Palace, took to Twitter today to complain about the way she was quizzed by “SH” during the event.
“Mixed feelings about yesterday’s visit to Buckingham Palace. 10 mins after arriving, a member of staff, Lady SH, approached me, moved my hair to see my name badge. The conversation below took place. The rest of the event is a blur,” she wrote on a tweet which shortly went viral.
She then went on to detail the conversation.
Lady Susan Hussey Apologizes For “Unacceptable And Regrettable” Comments
Apparently not everyone who attended the Buckingham Palace reception organized by Queen Camilla left it happily. Even though the topic discussed was one that most women would happily be a part of, one of the attendees had a prior experience that left her feeling out of sorts.
According to Ngozi Fulani, who attended the reception on behalf of @Sistah_Space, “SH”, now identified as 83-year-old Susan Hussey, asked her a series of questions about her heritage and nationality as to leave her feeling uncomfortable.
Shortly after her tweet went viral – 16k likes at the time of this writing – Buckingham Palace responded and said that they would be investigating the matter.
There were speculations on who “SH” could be by royal fans. But all doubt was lifted when Buckingham Palace released a statement saying that Lady Susan Hussey has stepped back from her honorary duties after discovering the hurt that her questions caused. She also expressed her “profound apologies” to Ngozi Fulani.
A Buckingham Spokesperson said: “We take this incident extremely seriously and have investigated immediately to establish the full details. In this instance, unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments have been made”.

Royal fans are, of course, heartbroken that one of the Queen’s close friends will be leaving her post at the Palace.
Richard Eden, a journalist and royal expert, wrote: “A sad end to a distinguished life of #royal service for Prince William’s godmother Lady Susan Hussey, who was one of Queen Elizabeth’s ladies-in-waiting.”
