Jada Pinkett Smith recently revealed that she and hubby Will Smith secretly split years ago. But the celebrity couple successfully hid their separation all that time, even posing on the red carpet looking like a happily married duo.

And now a new report reveals why and how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might model their own marriage separation on Jada Pinkett and Will Smith.

Meghan Markle Takes Jada Pinkett Smith As Role Model?

Jada Pinkett Smith just might serve as the perfect role model for Meghan Markle. And that theory stems from Jada’s success in staging what has become known as the Hollywood split, involving celebrity couples hiding their secret separations for years.

For instance, Jada hid her separation from Will Smith since 2016. And the Post reported that Meryl Streep and her husband, Don Gummer, separated over six years ago.

As a result, relationship expert Louella Alderson thinks that Meghan and Prince Harry could base their own split on Jada, Will, Meryl, and Don’s successfully hidden separations. And she pointed out, “The media attention surrounding the end of their relationship would be difficult to deal with and they have their children to look out for.”

But beyond avoiding a negative spotlight in the media, Meghan and Harry profit as a team. And by avoiding a divorce, the Duke of Sussex, 39, and Duchess of Sussex, 42, could continue their working relationship to bring “in substantial income for their family.”

Because Meghan and Harry do get involved in “individual endeavors,” they might feel tempted to go ahead and split publicly. However, such a separation would take away the benefits that they currently enjoy in their professional partnership. And the expert warned, “If they were to split, it could potentially impact their careers, especially as a couple who have brands built on their relationship.”

Prince Harry Splits From Meghan Markle?

However, some think that Harry and Meghan already began their Hollywood split. And royal family followers debated over whether Harry traveling separately from Meghan resulted from a separation or just a need for some time alone.

However, Markle’s estranged half-sister Samantha Markle believes that Meghan and Harry will break up. And expert Mark Boardman thinks Harry seems “frustrated and desperate for his old life back.”

But Boardman also pointed out what Harry has gone through in recent years. First, the Duke of Sussex’s life changed when he tied the knot with Meghan in 2018. And second, Harry’s life shifted again when he and Meghan moved from England to California in 2020.

Meghan Markle Benefits From Hiding Separation

“Prince Harry’s social life has notably shifted over the past decade,” noted Boardman. And he claimed that Harry misses his friends as well as his life in London. But has the Duke of Sussex already quietly begun planning to return to the UK? 

Meanwhile, Alderson feels that using the Hollywood split model allows “celebrities to maintain a united front in the public eye.” And she noted that by faking their togetherness, they can “avoid the inevitable media attention and speculation.” But for Meghan and Harry, protecting their brand and image seems especially beneficial.

And relationship specialist Kate Mansfield agreed. Harry and Meghan face “additional royal family complications and duties.” As a result, “the pressure to stay together as a family unit is far greater than it is for other couples,” Mansfield added.
