Meghan Markle Boasts About Supporting Prince Harry At Queen Elizabeth Funeral, Feels 'Energized' By MourningRoyal family news recently revealed how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry participated in the tributes to the late Queen Elizabeth. And now the Duchess of Sussex has opened up about the funeral experience. But some of Meghan’s comments may surprise royal family traditionalists.

Meghan Markle – ‘Proud’ Of Supporting Harry, ‘Warmth’ With Queen

As a result of Queen Elizabeth’s death, Meghan Markle joined her husband Prince Harry in participating in an official period of mourning. But as soon as that ended, the Duchess of Sussex chatted with Variety. And although at first Meghan fretted that commenting on the Queen and her relatives might prove “a distraction” from ongoing mourning, she soon got excited talking about the recent past and the future.

For instance, Markle discussed how proud she felt in accompanying Harry to the funeral “to support him, especially during that time.” And the Duchess of Sussex also gushed about Queen Elizabeth’s “shining example” of “female leadership. I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her,” she added.

But Meghan also looked back on her very first meeting with the Queen. “I’ve reflected on that first official engagement that I had with her, how special that felt. I feel fortunate. And I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family,” added Markle.

Duchess ‘Energized And Excited’ After Death Of Queen

But asked how she processed the loss of Queen Elizabeth, Meghan shared that it gave her perspective. And it made her consider what to “focus” her energy on. As a result, Markle shared that she feels “energized and excited about all of the things we’ve been building toward.”

Using the royal we to refer to herself and Harry, Meghan shared, “We’re also focused on our foundation. So much of the work we do includes the philanthropic space.” And the Duchess of Sussex also turned her attention to the content deals she and Prince Harry achieved with mega-companies Netflix and Spotify.

But the mom of son Archie Harrison, 3, and daughter Lilibet Diana, 1, also offered a glimpse of what viewers can expect from the long-awaited documentary featuring Meghan and Harry. “It’s interesting,” admitted Markle. And she pointed out that the lights and camera are new to the Duke of Sussex.

“My husband has never worked in this industry before,” noted Meghan. “For me, having worked on “Suits,” it’s so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That’s been really fun.” However, the Duchess of Sussex also admitted that the documentary “may not be the way we would have told it. But that’s not why we’re telling it. We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens.”
