Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Will Be Given A Measly £1 After Suing A UK Newspaper

Meghan MarkleBritish royal family news reveals that The Mail On Sunday only has to give thirsty Meghan Markle a symbolic £1 in damages after she sued them for, “invading her privacy.” The verdict came after Meghan sued Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) for publishing five articles contained bits of a letter she wrote to her allegedly estranged father Thomas Markle in 2018.

The former game show hostess, “won her case last year when a High Court judge ruled in her favor without a full trial – but ANL brought an appeal against that decision,” according to the Mail.

The publisher will, “pay a confidential amount in damages for having ‘infringed her copyright’ by publishing parts of the letter to 77-year-old Mr Markle. ANL is also expected to cover much of Meghan’s legal costs which could run into seven figures.”

According to the outlet, “The publisher’s lawyers argued that new evidence from Jason Knauf, former communications secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, suggested Meghan wrote the letter with the understanding that it could be leaked. But the challenge was dismissed by Court of Appeal judges.”

On the day after Christmas the Mail on Sunday printed a statement acknowledging that the woman who demands to be called Duchess of Sussex though she resides in America, won her copyright claim against ANL.

The statement read: The Duchess of Sussex wins her legal case for copyright infringement against Associated Newspapers for articles published in The Mail on Sunday and posted on Mail Online – SEE PAGE 3.”

Royal Family News – The Mail Acknowledged Meghan And Her Lawsuit

For anyone who cared to look on page three, they found the following: “Following a hearing on 19-20 January, 2021, and a further hearing on 5 May, 2021, the Court has given judgment for the Duchess of Sussex on her claim for copyright infringement.”

It went on to say: “’The Court found that Associated Newspapers infringed her copyright by publishing extracts of her handwritten letter to her father in The Mail on Sunday and on Mail Online. Financial remedies have been agreed.”

Meghan clacked about the ruling last month, “This is a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what’s right.” Got that?
