Meghan Markle Just Beat Kate Middleton With Royal Baby Name?

Royal family members, friends, and fans all responded warmly to the news that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just welcomed their first baby girl into the world!

We’ve got the inside royal scoop on everything from the baby’s name to how the royal family responded amid allegations of a feud. And we also found the answer to the question: What does the baby’s name really mean?

Find out if Meghan just may have outdone her sister-in-law Kate Middleton in choosing a name designed to please Queen Elizabeth below!

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Welcome Baby Girl

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, welcomed their first daughter and second child into the world on Friday. Their official statement, which the couple released on Sunday, revealed the baby’s name, birth weight, and hospital.

“It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world,” said the statement. “Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.”

Meghan and Harry already have a son. Two-year-old Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor reportedly feels no jealousy at the arrival of his little sister.

Turning to their Archewell website, Markle and her husband also wrote about their feelings at their new child.

“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

For months, a fierce feud has dominated royal family headlines. The battle began when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their duties and left England. And the war escalated as a result of their interview with Oprah Winfrey, followed by Harry’s appearances on a podcast and TV show in which he accused the royal family of neglecting his mental health.

But a baby can, at least temporarily, quiet even a royal war. Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles all shared their happiness at the news.

“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” said a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace Sunday.

Kate Middleton Versus Meghan Markle: Who Wins In Choosing Daughter’s Name Designed to DELIGHT  Queen?

The British royal family follows a tradition of choosing significant baby names. For example, Kate Middleton and Prince William chose the name George for their first-born son to honor Queen Elizabeth’s father, George VI.

The couple opted to name their youngest child Louis. That name honors Prince Philip’s uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten. As for Kate’s and William’s daughter Charlotte?

Little Princess Charlotte honors another princess with her name. Princess Charlotte was a member of the royal family from 1796-1817.

But when it comes to choosing a baby girl’s name to please Queen Elizabeth, Meghan Markle may have just outdone Kate!

“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet,” shared the couple.

In addition to honoring Queen Elizabeth, Meghan and Harry paid homage to their mother. Their baby girl’s middle name, Diana, honors her much-loved grandmother, Princess Diana.

Charlotte has her grandmothers name, Elizabeth. Lilibet is an inner family nickname, not a formal name. MM and H do gimmick to get attention.

a sick trick if they think usurping HM's pet name makes up for all the nasty things they've been saying about the Royal Family. I'm not even British yet I can't help feeling appalled!

They will do anything to try to be the best. I think they are the lowest of all times. I hope the Royals don’t give in to their tricks

I love the name…the press/media try’s too hard to promote/create problems where there probably aren’t any and people buy into it.

I agree and I wonder how many of these stories on here r actually true.

Actions speak louder than words. It takes more than using a name to make amends for spewing nasty untruths about your family with a grandfather dying and a grandmother grieving. Harry's got his fist full of $$$ for trashing his family and trying to undermine his father and brothers future. Now he thinks he can regroup with this latest attention seeking ploy. Next week he'll be shi****g on the Queen and her legacy again in another cash grab. I don't believe anything Harry or his wife does is genuine or sincere, they have literally sold their granny for $$$.
Most of us just use that as a saying for someone despicable but in Harry's case it is sadly plain fact.
