Meghan Markle & Kate Middleton Compete For ‘Most Iconic’ Royal Family Member – See Who Won!

British Royal Family news reveals Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and other royal family princesses, duchesses, and even queens have become famed for their fashion selections. 

As a result, style watchers love to compare one member of the royal family’s style to another’s.

Both Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, also known as the Duchess of Sussex, have become two of the most scrutinized royal celebrities in recent history.

And The Winner Of The Most Iconic Royal Family Member Goes To… (Drumroll, Please)

The contest began when a global fashion brand, Pretty Little Thing,  took on the task of analyzing interest in each female royal member. The competition ranged far and wide, including Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Princess Anne, Meghan Markle, and Kate Middleton. 

To help determine the “most iconic” royal family member, Pretty Little Thing compared Internet searches in both the United Kingdom and the United States for each member of the royal family. The company discovered increasing searches for all the royal family females… but two, in particular, soared to the top of the search charts!

And comparing Meghan Markle versus Kate Middleton, Pretty Little Thing reported that Meghan triumphed to take home the “most iconic” member of the royal family honors. Markle’s loyal Twitter followers turned to the social media platform to gloat over their winner.

In the last 12 months, searches for Meghan Markle doubled. But Kate Middleton didn’t lag too far behind, according to the Internet search analysis.

Individuals seeking to learn more about Princess Kate’s style selections soared by 84 percent during the past year. In addition, Sophie’s, Anne’s, and Camilla’s outfits all popped to the top of search charts.

The global fashion brand’s team theorized, “It is likely that this is due to both Meghan and Kate consistently setting trends and being huge style icons in their own right.”

Comparing Markle versus Middleton, Pretty Little Things revealed:

• Searches for fashions worn by Meghan Markle topped 148,000.
• Quests for styles chosen by Kate Middleton amounted to over 145,000.

Kate Middleton Earns Kudos For ‘Positive Royal Model’

But while Meghan Markle won for “most iconic,” royal fashion watchers noted that styles worn by both Kate and Meghan quickly become unavailable. The reason: The royal outfits typically prove so popular that stores simply can’t keep them in stock!

And Kate Middleton earned her search of kudos from the Editor of the British Style Society, Natasha Henson. This royal fashion observer pointed to Kate’s choices as the outfits most preferred by the average woman. 

“Kate often opts for comfortable yet stylish casual attire to fit her role as a young royal and a hands-on mother,” noted Natasha. “These elements may indicate that although she is a prominent public figure, she still likes to feel relaxed yet fashionable whether she’s attending an event or enjoying a family day out.”

And for those of us who can’t afford to wear an outfit just once and then discard it, Kate Middleton wins as a positive role model, emphasized the British Style Society Editor.

“Kate appears to have understated confidence in her style choices and chooses pieces that represent her position as a positive role model. She also isn’t afraid to re-wear statement pieces,” summed up Natasha.
