Ninja Maxie’s Miraculous Pregnancy And Birth On General Hospital

General Hospital: Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) General Hospital has just presented soaps with what is quite possibly the longest pregnancy ever. Typically, soap pregnancies are sped up for rating sweeps purposes, but GH refused to speed up Maxie’s pregnancy and then turned her into a woman with superhuman powers while in labor and just after giving birth.

General Hospital Lets Maxie Gestate

It was April of 2020 when General Hospital left us with the idea that Peter (Wes Ramsey) got Maxie (Kirsten Storms) pregnant and we all hoped it would turn out to be a joke. After all, these were some of the last scenes taped before the soap shutdown due to COVID-19 and we were being left with a cliffhanger, wondering if maybe Maxie just had her dates wrong and we’d all be relieved once the show could resume taping and give us new shows again.

Welp, that didn’t happen and in August, we learned Maxie was indeed pregnant with Peter’s spawn. The fandom sighed and settled in for what we hoped would be a quick pregnancy so we and Maxie could just get it over with.

No such luck. In real-time, Maxie was pregnant for 13 incredibly long months, and in soap time, Maxie was pregnant for 10 months. If General Hospital would like to explain why it did this to us and Maxie, we’re here to listen.

GH Spoilers – Ninja Maxie Jones Finally Gets To Give Birth

To make this long, science-defying pregnancy even more jaw-dropping was Maxie in labor running around the woods and squatting on a rock to just give birth by herself. She had already poured hot tea on her crazy nurse’s face and then managed to hit her with a fireplace poker as she hobbled around through contractions.

When Maxie finally did give birth to an amazingly large newborn, she also gave birth to some Avengers powers, apparently. There she was, legs still in the birth position, kicking Crazy Nurse Chloe (Kimberly J. Brown) in the ankle. Who cares that Chloe had just knocked the (familiar-to-us) stranger named Austin (Roger Howarth) out cold with that poker?

Maxie had work to do. And that work involved running around the woods with a baby in her arms right after giving birth to this baby. There’s been no medical care, mind you. And women go through some things after birth. Imagine going through that with your new baby in your arms as you make some incredible Ninja moves to keep your baby safe. Clearly, Maxie is not an actual human. Casey the alien anyone? Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to see if Maxie ever makes it to a comfortable hospital bed.
