Meghan Markle apparently knew that she wouldn’t be welcomed by the royal family at the coronation and that is why she and Prince Harry made the decision together for her not to go. Instead, the Duke of Sussex will be flying to London to attend the ceremony on his own. Here’s what you need to know.

With all of the royal drama that has gone down so far, Meghan knew that going to London would be a bad look for her, Harry, and maybe even the royal family, too.

One source close to the situation even put it this way, “They had to make a decision that felt genuine and authentic, especially after everything that has been said and all the things that have gone down. The words that Harry and Meghan have said about the importance of their family are lining up with their actions. They care about their family, so Meghan is going to stay [in California] and Harry is going to support his dad.”

The tipster added, “t’s a decision they made together as a family.”

A separate insider also says that Meghan has absolutely no problem with Harry going to the coronation, even though the ceremony lands on the same day as their son Archie’s 4th birthday. The tipster said, “If she was super controlling, then she could have made sure that Harry didn’t go. She’s all good, she supports Harry — they both have nothing more to prove.”

One Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Sussexes released a statement that said, “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
