Meghan Markle Told Oprah She Didn’t Care About Royal Titles

Meghan Markle once enjoyed Hollywood’s glamour. But when Meghan met Prince Harry, she set aside her acting career and lifestyle blog to become a member of the royal family. And it seemed like a fairytale, with Markle becoming the Duchess of Sussex after tying the knot with her prince. 

However, behind the scenes, Meghan Markle later claimed that her fairytale turned into a nightmare. And she persuaded Harry to join her in stepping down from their royal duties and leaving England. But the controversial decision caused a rift in the royal family. For instance, some allegedly dubbed her Duchess Difficult. And the rift widened when Meghan talked with Oprah Winfrey in a conversation that slammed the royal family and their titles. Learn how Markle feels today below.

Meghan Markle – Slams ‘Duchess Difficult’ Label

The Duchess of Sussex knows that she has become labeled Duchess Difficult. And Meghan hates the unofficial title because of what it represents. As a result, Markle blasted the term, noted the Sun.

Using her recent Archetypes podcast to address the label, the 41-year-old Duchess of Sussex claimed that those who called her Duchess Difficult actually see it as a “codeword for b***h”. And Meghan believes that the word “difficult” has became a way to “gaslight” powerful women. In her episode, titled “”To ‘B’ or not to ‘B’?,” Markle slammed those who use the word b***h to blast women.

“What these people are implying when they use that very charged word, is that this woman: ‘Oh, she’s difficult’. Which is really just a euphemism or is probably not even a euphemism. It’s really a codeword for the B-word,” asserted the Duchess of Sussex. Meghan first received the label in 2018 after rumors soared about her allegedly dictatorial behavior. For instance, both the royal family and her staff allegedly saw Meghan as “difficult and demanding by some in the family and on the staff.” And allegations that Markle made Princess Kate cry added to the Duchess Difficult claims. 

Meghan Markle – Claimed To Disdain Royal Titles: Still True?

The Duchess of Sussex once told Oprah Winfrey that she doesn’t care if she herself has a royal title. But now Meghan has changed her mind. And after observing the value for Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Markle also sees how royal titles could help her children, noted Yahoo.

As a result, royal commentator Neil Sean shared that Meghan has become determined to hold onto her current title. And she also wants to get her son Archie and daughter Lilibet their own titles. Because of her close relationship with Beatrice and Eugenie, Markle wants the benefits of a title.

And the Duchess of Sussex experienced a “dramatic change of heart regarding titles,” added Sean. Prince Harry agrees. As a result, the couple feel “very, very keen to cling onto those royal titles. After much deliberation, Meghan decided that the titles would be a good thing, not just for her, but for both her children, too,” Sean shared.

“Meghan became very friendly with senior members of the monarchy, predominantly Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice. After this, Meghan realized how useful a title can be, particularly when you want to move in the correct circles. That is the reason why they want to clutch hold of titles,” he added.
