Meghan Markle Wants A Vegan, Gender-Free Royal Nursery For Baby

Meghan Markle Wants A Vegan, Gender-Free Royal Nursery For BabyShe’s broken a few royal protocols, and now Meghan Markle wants to break tradition again when it comes to her baby’s room. The Duchess of Sussex, who is due to give birth to her first child in late April, is said to be planning quite a unique nursery.

For starters, Meghan wants the baby’s room to be painted with vegan paint. According to The Sun, Meghan has explored the notion of using odorless, non-toxic vegan paint infused with essential oils to boost the baby’s brain development and immune system.

“Meghan has been looking long and hard at paints for the Sussex nursery,” a source said. “The Sussexes are much in favour of The Organic & Natural Paint Co’s Auro range for the nursery.” The company is known for its wide range of baby and pet-safe, cruelty-free, and non-toxic paints.

Meghan also reportedly wants to install childproof windows and an eco boiler worth $91,000. On top of Meghan’s eco-friendly choices, royal insiders revealed that the expectant mom has also decided on a “gender-neutral” nursery. All colors, decors, and design elements are to have a monochromatic palette of whites and grays instead of the traditional blues or pinks. Meghan is said to have hired interior designer Vicky Charles–the same person who decorated her intimate but lavish hen’s party prior to her royal wedding.

Of course, Meghan Markle is known for her fashion-forward choices as well as bold social statements. The former Hollywood actress is a vocal feminist, vegan, environmentalist, and animal rights advocate. Surely, the new royal baby’s nursery will be as stylish and unconventional like its mom.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will settle with their newborn at the Frogmore Cottage in Windsor Castle. They opted for this residence as to opposed to having apartments in Kensington Palace as previously planned. Frogmore will give the newlyweds more privacy and their baby will have sprawling gardens to explore. The couple is reported to have a $5.4 million budget to renovate their new place, including the royal nursery.
