Meghan Markle wants to stay one step ahead of her sister-in-law. Even though she doesn’t want anything to do with royal life or even the royal family anymore, it seems like the Duchess of Sussex is still staying rather competitive with Kate Middleton when it comes to their charity work.

Apparently, Meghan is looking to beat Kate to the punch when it comes to their clashing events for World Mental Health Day this week. Here’s what you need to know.

According to royal expert Daniela Elser, she thinks the only reason why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are going to New York City for Mental Health Day is because they want to swipe the Prince and Princess of Wales out of the headlines. And it might actually work, too.

In her new column for News.com.au, Elser wrote, “This is Harry and Meghan stepping things up a notch or seven in terms of their US ambitions and them taking a much more substantive crack at the charity throne.”

She then continued, “Will they triumph? Will William and Kate beat them to the punch and leave them looking like also-rans? Will Harry and Meghan put on the glama-a-rama razzle dazzle and blow them out of the water?” while also adding, “So, buckle up New York, the Sussex caravan is about to roll into town. And Birmingham, someone make sure the tea urns are working.”

Royal Family News: What Will The Duchess Of Sussex Do Next?

Even though Harry and Meghan are financially-independent royals who are doing their own thing in California, they are still keeping tabs on Prince William and Kate Middelton back in London. Or at least, that’s what it seems like.
