For Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the victim narrative seemed to become became a marketing tool. But, a royal commentator argued that the strategy wears a bit thin and their media deals haven’t delivered lasting success. Read on for more details.
Pop Stars & PR
In his Daily News Headlines vlog on YouTube, royal commentator Neil Sean compared the couple’s PR strategy to pop stars trying to salvage a failing career. He noted that in the world of celebrities, there’s a constant search for a way to “twist the narrative.”
He pointed out that when a project fails, the blame often gets dumped elsewhere. If it’s not the label, it might be the release timing. In fact, it’s hardly ever blamed on the quality of the work.
Sean used Michael Jackson as an example. A new movie about the singer succeeded simply because the public liked the music. And that proves that people can overlook controversy. But, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, their story rests on being victims. At least in the opinion of the royal expert.
Media Moves

Sean seem quite critical about the couple’s media moves, labeling the Oprah Winfrey interview and the Netflix docuseries as “two of the worst deals in the land of television.” He claimed that the Duchess of Sussex may have overestimated her leverage, believing that “these deals were going to keep coming through.”
This week, Sean warned that Meghan Markle seems to push a risky story. After King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the USA without a private meeting, allegedly, the couple spin the absence as proof they were right to leave the royal family.
According to Sean, “Meghan wants to make sure that she can carry on playing the victim.”
Only One Family Matters?

Next, Sean highlighted what he sees as a huge contradiction. If family ties are the priority, he asked why the Duchess hasn’t reached out to her dad, Thomas Markle, during his health struggles.
Citing sources from their staff, Sean claimed that Thomas “is not allowed to be mentioned in any shape or form” within their home. Nevertheless, the Royal Family on Prince Harry’s side of the family remains a constant subject for debate.

In the comments section, one viewer opined, “Their tantrums and blathering of their victimhood non stop for attention is poor PR strategy which no one buys.”
Here are a few more responses from the dicsussion:
- MM perhaps they don’t want to meet and see you ??? Ever think of that ? Why on earth would they?
- Oprah should have done some fact checking before they released that program. It’s funny that they now are so desperate to reconcile with the very people they claimed treated them so badly. And yet he’s still making disparaging remarks about his family.
- Markle needs to go and apologize to her father .
